A Little Background

A young couple in the heart of the outer Melbourne suburbs wanted to have a space, in their home, where they could feel more connected to the earth through the food they put on their plates.

The desire to grow some of their own food became a drive to find a landscaping company who shared their passion.

From growing food they also needed a space for their four legged babies and so we designed and installed a space that could do both.

As well as space for both production and play, we needed to ensure the produce patch was secure enough from playful pups and so the idea of fencing came into play.

Raised beds were already in the design, but when the discussion around fencing came about, Holly & Lauren wanted it to feel and look as authentic as any given farm in the country.

By already using Australian cypress timber for the raised beds and trellis supports, it was only natural to use the same wood species with the fencing.

Tied in with earth coloured permeable topping, a few beneficial flowering plants, this little suburban back yard came to life…
