Wheelers Hill, VIC

(Project Two)

“We were delighted to see our garden area completely rejuvenated with native plants and well blended landscaping. On that basis and also with excellent back up service, we have no hesitation in recommending AT Garden Spaces.”

A Little Background

In all its magnificence stood the centre piece to our new project…

Greeting us through the gate their she stood! A fully matured Spotted Eucalyptus Gum (Corymbia maculata). She was to be our inspiration and muse to the new garden we were about to create around her.

The owners had trouble over the years with keeping a garden thriving under such a robust Eucalyptus, but that was all about to change.

With careful planning and a design that was inclusive of the needs of the Spotted Gum, we were able to devise a landscape that seamlessly integrated with her.

Micro-climates and soil restoration played the biggest part in this project and once they were identified, we were able to select the right species of plants to flow around the landscape.

Each section played its own part within the landscape and to help the clients enjoy each micro-climate zone, a wondering pathway was installed.

With the pathway laid out, beautiful Australian weathering steel allowed us to raise the surrounding gardens so not to interfere with the root system of the Spotted Gum.

Now that the garden beds had been placed, we were then able to install a semi-permeable topping pathway. Combined with the raised beds, selection of plants for maximum carbon input into the garden soil, through sequestration, they all contributed to providing for the existing gum.

Rainfall was easily absorbed by the feeding root zone of the Spotted Gum and excess moisture was held within the garden through newly regenerated soil, additional plant life and mulch.

She was very happy with her new family…
